  We found The Zar on line as we drove north, we wanted inexpensive (ok, cheap) and it was. We made the reservation almost as we pulled into the parking lot. Quick check in, roomy lobby and breakfast area, clean and not horribly busy. Second floor room with a large bathroom and one king size bed. Again clean, though spartan, very little movable furniture.   Dirty place and bedroom smell like cigarettes

  We rented this place just to spend the night. The experience was not good. It took us an hour to get there because there is lot of road construction and many roads are closed. The bedroom toilet was not clean, there were cockroaches walking around, the smell of cigarettes was very strong ( this was supposed to be non smoking room).   This used to be a good hotel, but it has gotten bad. Check-in was a mess. Took them 35 minutes to find our reservation and they were grumpy with us. The room was shabby, the shower was gross with just a trickle of water. Staff were rude.   WAS TIRED AND DESPERATE, It made me feel dirty & Sleezy

  Been driving for HOURS on the autopista, and was headed for Jalisco. Its was immediatly at the off ramp into the beginning in Culiaca'n. Only $450pesos. NO SMOKING HOTEL! had to "go outside". However the showr was caked withy black mold around the corners, The A/c no se funciona. IT DIDN'T WORK! No restaurant. No in room coffee. Crummy furnishings, slept like hell. No pool.   We stayed in this hotel twice in 2 weeks. Once on the way to the US and once on the way back. On the first stop we didn't have any water in the shower so had to leave for our 12 hour drive unshowered. Thinking it was just 'one of those things' we stayed there again on the way back.
