The Rija VEF Hotel is a great hotel to go during your holidays if you can't spend too much. The breakfast is delicious and the beds are very comfortable. The hotel is well located. However, the staff isn't very friendly and the shower is too small. Modest and simple stay

Very simple hotel, far from the city centre. There was no air conditioner in the room and the room was very hot as the sun was warming it up. Breakfast was very modest. Unforgetible bad experience.

Very negative attitude and even through Booking.com. We made reservation becouse kids should attend olimpiad and made cancellation 1 day in advance due to that kid get sick. We are 3 kids family still they did not care and took all the money. First Hotel informed that they never received the money. Booking.com said that it is up to hotel how to settle the things. Do not use such place if you do not want loose your money though they write that calcellation is for free.

70s retro… but not in a good way!

Located far from the historic center of Riga. The breakfast was acceptable, but the restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner. The only eating options were at a shopping center about a 20-minute walk away down some very seedy streets. You have to use a pedestrian underpass to cross the road. We were advised by a local to avoid this at night.The hotel itself is in bad repair. There’s lots of bare ductwork in the lobby. I thought that perhaps this was on purpose (industrial chic), but it’s so shabby and unsightly that the only conclusion you can come to is that they ran out of money to replace the hanging ceiling, so just left it. On the top floor is a lounge all decked out in 70s velour. It would have been fun had someone cleaned it since then.We were there during a heatwave. When we turned on the a/c nothing came out. We mentioned this to the receptionist, who just shrugged her shoulders. I got the distinct impression she didn’t want to be there either.

Nothing special but worth its price

Stayed in suite 3 nights, not that much a suite quality, but spacy and clean and comfortable. Though... that miniature TV on the wall made us question, why? Can you put any smaller TV in suite?Hotel location is in the middle of large traffic jams so be aware that getting anywhere takes A LOT of time and your Bolt Food also can't catch you in time. The breakfast arrangement definitely did not meet the expectations. Very strict Covid restrictions - had to eat in our room - and breakfast quality was bad. Coffee was cold and in these small cups you can only take one to your room, so you have to run like 7 times up and down to get proper amount of morning coffee!The hotel accommodated some sports team from Slovenia or smth who decided to PARTY all night so that nobody could sleep and the hotel DID NOT DO ANYTHING!! Just let the loud party go one all night until we said we'll call the police. Does that sound normal?Overall - the hotel looks nice after renovation and the price is reasonable. Hopefully someday one can have a normal buffet breakfast every morning not only when there are too many people to serve..... what's the point of these restrictions anyway? Less Covid threat when more crowded dining room? Ha ha.
