One good thing about this hotel is the view. The building is said to be the tallest one on Honshu island that's facing the Sea of Japan. Every room is located above 22nd floor so you are guaranteed to get a high floor room. There's also a free observation deck on the top level. Not so easy to find this place as we drove. As we only knew the lobby is not on the ground floor, it took us awhile to realise that there wasnt any porter service as well. In the end, we had to park our car and lugged our luggage from car park to lobby.No food option available except the chinese restaurant if you checked in late afternoon. We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, April 4-5, 2023 at room #2712. This hotel was recommended to us by a friend from Niigata whom we were visiting. We are told this hotel is owned by the JAL group and they have big function/banquet rooms so a lot of conventions are held there. The rooms are clean, staff are all courteous and helpful. Hotel nikko is the tallest hotel in town, you can see wonderful view from your room. Room itself is a bit old but still spotless. Looking online the Nikko seems fine. Large-ish rooms, modern, convenient store downstairs, room service, 2 restaurants. All well and good, since it’s out by the river, with nothing within walking distance.So you arrive, check in, jotel is almost full or at least more than half full, judging by the parking garage and people queing to check in.Then you get to the room.
