Underwhelming arrival experience that ended well!
We spent 2 nights in Prince after first 2 nights in Kusatsu onsen town. The hotel looked underwhelming on arrival and the front office service was efficient but cursory compared to the warm hospitality we had in the ryokan stay. It was low season and hotel was very quiet and had a "cold" atmosphere.I was further disappointed when we were shown our room which was on the lowest floor with a simple g… We spent 2 nights in Prince after first 2 nights in Kusatsu onsen town. A quiet classic with great views
Not the newest, but very well maintained, and has the atmosphere of a "classic" Japanese hotel. Onsen is lovely! They've set up a new lodge perched up on a hill just for the bath facilities and its quite fun to go up there with the hillside elevator. Service is also attentive and friendly. It's 15 minutes away by car from Karuizawa station, and a bit of a distance from any outside dining or shoppi… Not the newest, but very well maintained, and has the atmosphere of a "classic" Japanese hotel. Not a single complaint
As Karuizawa is a tourist place I was a bit worried that the hotel might not be worth the money - it was worth every single yen.We had been treated very, very friendly; room impeccable, lovely view, quiet, spectacular hot bath, quality of dinner and breakfast outstanding. We could not have asked for more.As Karuizawa is a tourist place I was a bit worried that the hotel might not be worth the money - it was worth every single yen.We had been treated very, very friendly; room impeccable, lovely view, quiet, spectacular hot bath, quality of dinner and breakfast…

Quiet location at outskirt of Karuizawa town
Located a little far from the center of Karuizawa town, very quiet setting (and dark at night). Several restaurants in the hotel available, bright in the breakfast time. Good for golf players, as they have a course right next to the hotel.
