This historic city hotel is located on Esquilin hill in the centre of Rome. Not one of the other hotels in the whole of Rome compares with this hotel. It is located in one of the wings of the Basilica Santa Croce monastery in Gerusalemme, a Cistercian monastery from 1561. The whole hotel breathes the thousand-year-old history of Rome and from the hotel terrace guests are offered a view of one of the oldest monuments of the city. Not energetically healthy and no comfort

This place is full of culture, rooms a little dated but acceptable for what we wanted. Staff on reception were brilliant, every one of them! Only let down was the breakfast, stale bread but again the staff were good

History over Hilton for me any day
If you want modern rooms with coffee machines and big screen tv’s then stay at the Hilton. If you want to stay in an amazing building that’s multi centuries old then this is for you. We got the train from the airport and it was a 15/20 minute walk to the hotel…

My 60th birthday
The rooms were clean but basic. The breakfast was very basic. Bread, cheese , ham turkey, cherry cake, tubs of butter jam and honey. Tea coffee orange juice.
