This residential centre rises above a gentle slope that leans out towards the sea, between the headland of Punta Sardegna to the west and Capo d'Orso to the east. In the 18th Century, the coastline took on an important defensive role; Palau, like La Maddalena and Caprera, became one of the many sentinels deployed for the protection of the Strait of Bonifacio. Numerous fortifications were erected at strategic points, of which those of Altura and Capo d'Orso are among the most beautiful and imposing. The centre of Palau, where guests will find links to the public transport network, is just 400 m away and it is 600 m to the beach. It is also the port of departure for boat trips to the island of La Maddalena. Olbia Airport is 40 km away.

Superb Hotel in Palau
Great place to stay in Palau – the staff are super friendly and helpful.It has a beautiful view over La Maddalena Island.Also, it’s very easy to find parking around the hotel.I definitely recommend it if you’re planning to stay in Palau!

Hotel Palau is ok at best but is most definitely not 4 stars.For context we stayed for 5 nights and whilst fine would not recommend staying longer as it would become repetitive whilst there are other places to explore (especially on La Maddalena).POOL/POOL ARE…
