Bed bugs in Room 25 – the worst hotel experience of my life

I booked three nights at the San Luca Palace Hotel in Lucca, from 24 to 27 July 2026, travelling with my 74-year-old mother. We had to leave the hotel early on 26 July because of what happened.We were assigned Room 25, on the second floor. We were very happy with our stay at the San Lucca Palace. The hotel is perfectly situated just within the walls, within easy walking distance of all the sights. The staff on reception were really helpful and friendly. Our room was large and comfortable (decor slightly dates, but everything clean), air conditioning was good and breakfast plentiful and varied with delicious coffee and very efficient… We were very happy with our stay at the San Lucca Palace.
