Lucca stay
We spent four days in Lucca house hunting around the surrounding areas. This hotel is in a perfect location for getting around however a car is a must.The hotel is a little bit dated but that adds to the traditional Italian charm. It was more a 3.5 experience. There are pros and cons. The pros - excellent receptionist and majority of staff friendly. Pool was superb. Cons - when food ran out at breakfast which one day was 10 minutes after breakfast commenced the hot food was not replenished. We had to move 3 times during our stay due to each room being unique. We had the most amazing stay here with our family. Having the whole hotel made it extra special, and the staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. Pascale and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The food was delicious, the atmosphere so welcoming, and it truly felt like a 5-star experience. Unable to find the ideal place in Lucca itself, with parking, we opted for this attractively located villa on the outskirts. The shabby sign from the main road sets the tone nicely: this place is not immaculate, just warm and friendly, with dated and rather basic bedrooms (and a very worn stone staircase accessing them).
