A truly supportive staff in a time of personal trauma

My wife and I were taking a celebratory cruise of the Mediterranean when I took seriously ill with mild pneumonia and was set ashore in Genoa, my wife accompanied me in the ambulance as we raced to the nearest Emergency ward where I spent the next two weeks in ICU. Best hotel I've ever stayed in!

We loved this hotel. Everything was perfect: the warm, friendly efficient staff, the spacious beautiful corner room with a tiny glimpse of the ocean, the pool in the relaxing spa. The beds were comfortable, the linens perfect, there was no noise (we were on the 5th floor. Most of all, the manager and staff were so accommodating. We booked for 2 days but wanted to stay a 3rd. On arrival there was someone there to take all our luggage to our room. The reception area is quite far back when you go inside and quite dark. It didn't appea very welcoming. The room was good with a bottle of water and a chocolate for us. The bathroom had a deep bath. We did find it slippery to get out of so used a towel to help. The shower was good too. Grossly over priced for what you get. They turn off AC at night. And you have to ask several days in a row to have it turned on again. Unacceptable for 1000 Euro a night. The staff are genuinely nice and want to be helpful. But cannot quite produce results.
