A wonderful luxury upgrade after a long journey!

After a long day of travelling by train, this hotel was a particularly pleasant surprise. Upon arrival, the friendly receptionist kindly offered us a complimentary upgrade to a luxury suite.The room was indeed spacious, elegant, and everything you would expect from a luxury suite. We had an absolutely marvelous time at the Excelsior in Bologna! I am positive we have never encountered kinder or more helpful staff members in our many hotel stays. I want to highlight a few people. First, Munna was exceptional at the front desk, caring for my mother who had some difficulties when we were there. The ice sent up to her room was especially kind. Very convenient location for the train station and tourist bus. A distance to old Bologna but as we had two day hop on hop off bus ticket that was fine. A nice breakfast. Consistent WiFi. Right across the street from the train station. Very clean hotel and loved that it had a bathtub.
