In short, a very miserable experience.

The communication is difficult, a Grand Hotel should have staff speaking English, and printed folders should be available in English too. The room is dirty regarding deep cleaning: the floors are vacuumed and the bed is made, but the walls are smudged everywhere, the paintings have food crumbs behind the glass, the paint is coming off the walls and ceilings, there are cracks in the walls and there… The communication is difficult, a Grand Hotel should have staff speaking English, and printed folders should be available in English too. Stayed for 2 nights with on a guided tour of Italy. The room felt like a dorm room. I felt guilty that I was placed in a handicap accessible room. The lobby bar was great with an assortment of alcoholic drinks. The breakfast buffet was decent. One of our worst hotel stays in Italy. Food not great, rock hard bed, no ac. Avoid this hotel.

The dinner was not great, service barely adequate. The beds are beyond extra firm and more in the realm of rock hard. Additionally, there is no air conditioning but we didn’t know that and when we called the front desk they didn’t understand and led us to believe it would be fixed. This is not a luxury hotel. We arrived during mid day and after a long train ride wanted to eat something but no, the hotel restaurant is only open for breakfast and dinner. So we sat in the lobby planning what to do since it was too early to check in and no food. I gave this two stars because it was clean. Beautiful garden. Honestly, this hotel almost ruined our trip. You will need your own shampoo and tissues. Also lotion. Small rooms with warm refrigerators. NO FANS. Our SMALL room was stifling warm, so we opened the window. Outside the room as was a pole lamp that illuminated the room.
