Had an amazing stay at the Ferrycarrig Hotel, the photos on here are obviously very old, as everything has been newly renovated. The Food in the bar was outstanding, and i have to commend every member of staff, not only were they helpful, friendly but also very efficient, having stayed in another hotel in wexford the previous week, there was just no comparison.

Astounding location, friendly staff, menu in Dry Dock needs tweeting

Ease of booking excellent, efficient reception staff, and friendly staff throughout the hotel.First class housekeeping, bathrooms shining, we requested two bins due to babies nappies, provided in both our inter connecting rooms. Lovely scented good quality soap/ shampoo and great big fluffy towels. Excellent beds both single and double and I tried both. Super view of the river from our bedrooms. Hotel grounds men working extensively to enhance the grounds. The hotel chain are not afraid to spend money on their clientele, which to me is a great sign of respect for their customer’s loyalty and custom.Breakfast is a treat, with a vast selection, and has a gluten free station apart from the rest of the buffet. Seating in the enclosed banquet is a pain, it’s too tight, especially the first one and we sampled three. Plates are warm enough to keep food hot, a must. There’s a continental section but with an Irish twist, or should I say a Wexford twist. For no one can cook ham like Wexford can! It’s there on a platter, reared locally, and delish. Our nearly 10 month old baby was impressed. She also loved the porridge. The sausages were out of this world as well as the black pud. The boys devoured the mini muffins, croissants with strawberry jam, Nutella and maple syrup. You name it, it was there. Best ever selection of fruits, cereals and seeds, to suit everyone taste. We were welcome beautifully by a young man, called Darren on day one, my daughter commented on his manner.Nothing was too much trouble in that breakfast area. One tip, the table could probably serve six, we were four, two adults and two tots 3/5, our dishes could have been cleared away( cereal, largish pancake plates for tiny pancakes etc) no tot drinks tea, they could also be removed at the start.I did request two single duvets of the lowest tog on the double bed before we registered. I found two doubles on the bed, at bedtime. This was remedied by a wonderful young lady, who staggered out the door under the weight of same. I appreciate her now.because of the lateness and good humour that she did all that. The Ferrycarrig rooms are warm, we had the window open day and night. I don’t know why hotels don’t carry lower tog duvets. There’s only one hotel I stayed in this year in Ireland who had flat sheets that fitted properly. There was also a double duvet on the single bed. Was there something lost in communication going from reception to housekeeping? We found the bar food disappointing, pasta unseasoned and asked for more Parmesan. No fish dish should leave the kitchen without lemon, salad wilting, uninteresting and unseasoned. We didn’t bother going back. Shame as we had a delicious lunch in Oct. Menu has changed too. Suggest chef looks at returned plates. Ferrycarrig Hotel , General Manager at Ferrycarrig Hotel, responded to this review Dear GuestThank you for taking the time to share your findings. Lovely hotel with a small play area for kids. Staff are very helpful, we didn't have a booking for dinner, the restaurant was very busy but the staff still catered to us. Fabulous food. Beautiful decor. Spacious room with sliding door out onto grass area with sea view.
