    Would not stay here

    rating28 Oct 2025

The room was decent sized and clean. The staff on the other hand was rude. We have been to several hotels around the island and they were by far the worst. They did not seem to care at all.The hotel sidewalk to the room was so unsafe to walk on. The ground was coveted in ice and I almost fell three times and they didn't seem to care. I had to walk in the grass to get to my room just so I wouldn't fall. The restaurant was okay. We ate there for dinner because it was the only thing opened. My husband loved the lamb. The lettuce for my salad was soggy and the the fries were cold.

    Perfect!

Great hotel with cozy cottage-like rooms. Very comfortable and clean. The restaurant was good as well and the staff was excellent! The hotel is in about as perfect a location as you can get on Arnastapi, overlooking the cliffs and water, absolutely gorgeous!

    Perfect stay.

I can´t complain over anything. It was a perfect stay. The rooms were clean and cozy, the food and the breakfast was really good, the staff was friendly and professional. And off course the surrounding does not get any better.

    Cute, cozy and convenient!

    rating26 Sept 2018

The cottages (not the guest house.. they are all part of the same complex) are roomy and comfortable.. the doors are all glass and there is an enormous glass window to one side, facing a solid side in the next cottage over, adding to privacy. The bathroom was also roomy, and if I recall, had a bath and shampoo (all in one) dispenser on the wall. Towel warmer was nice and there was a hair dryer (although not the most powerful one we experienced this trip)! We also had a fridge, which was nice, and a hot pot. The location is convenient to the couple restaurants in town, and there is a nice hike over the cliffs to Hellnar, the next town over. The view from the back of the cottage was of a dormant snow covered volcano, which was beautiful. Check in was at the bar, and was quick and without complication.. check out as well. Where to check in was not immediately evident, however, but we went into the one building that looked "official" and there it was. Breakfast was typical Icelandic fare, but good and plentiful. The restaurant location had views of the local landscape and a stone monument. It's a bit lower than the surrounding landscape, however, so the view does not extend to the ocean. There was a bus out front our last morning as we approached for breakfast, but thankfully the occupants had already eaten and were on their way. The door handles on the cottage doors are unusual.., the handle must be fully horizontal for the door to move at all. While I know it's impractical, it would have been nice to have windows on all four sides of the building. Or better yet, it would have been nice if the cottage was simply facing the other way. The view we had from cottage #11 was of the back of a local restaurant and the parking area. Behind the cottage, however, was an open field and a glorious view of a snow covered volcanic mountain. If the cottage had been turned around, we would have been able to watch a beautiful aurora display from the warmth of the cottage, instead of having to go outside and stand in the freezing cold to watch. And even absent auroras, the view from the back is much better than from the front. If we were in Arnarstapi again, we would definitely stay here, but perhaps ask for cottage #1 or #2, down at the end of the row.

    Very poor guesthouse

Truly not meant for families or mature couples. There was loud laughing until midnight we were here right behind our room. Tried to call the reception number but there was no response. Don’t recommend staying here doesn’t matter how tight your budget might be if you need a peaceful sleep.
