    Not as sold

    rating07 Nov 2025

My wife and I stayed at the above hotel from 2-11th September. The property is physically delightful and the experience could be equally so but whichever team has the unenviable task of managing it at the moment seem to be on a hiding to nothing. The rooms are nice and on the surface just in keeping with a hotel that aspires to this class and cost but they suffer from some lack of detail that detract and some fundamental design faults which make it difficult to make it work. There are not enough staff to cater for the needs of its guests and the tiny team is run off its feet providing the most basic services and those expected of a good bed and breakfast not a boutique hotel and very few of them that are detailed on their website. In terms of room detail they are burdened with stylish but flawed furnishings and interior design together with faulty services. A key problem is that the Aircon in the main building is centralised and spotty at best. Most importantly many of the rooms can be looked directly into from pathways that are commonly used. The window blinds are therefore permanently closed making the rooms dark and the terraces too public to be of much secluded use.Its unlikely a property of this size (only 10 rooms) can sustain having services one would expect for a hotel that aspires to be a high standard boutique, like a bar and restaurant and, the web site is misleading on this point as it describes services that don’t really exist. The bar is really funky but totally impractical and as Apostolia, the manger, explained is rarely open for operational reasons. We imagine it cant justify proper bar staff and has too little seating so no-one goes there and the cycle of no use/service continues. The terrace restaurant is extremely basic and fairly soulless and the kitchen looks inadequate for creating a decent menu at any scale. The breakfast is adequate at best. Getting eggs seems to be a breakfast highlight but it is not a sumptuous affair. The pool is a decent size but again the area is quite spartan. There is not room to put enough sun beds with shade out. So all in all there is little reason to remain on site and so it seems to be used merely as a bed and breakfast. Charging three times what a great bed and breakfast would normally cost is almost certainly going to cause satisfaction issues. So on balance you are left with a very stylish property with great potential which doesn't work on many levels charging premium prices. Anyone who has been to a similar property that does work will spot the failings and be very disappointed. It’s pretty unfair to ask any team to manage it because they are going to be dealing with unhappy guests constantly. It needs a rethink but our sense is that as long as the mixed reviews (some very positive some very negative) don't put people off completely the owners will try to sweat the asset. It’s too easy to take the money and burn the team on the ground.Turning to our stay, the creaking bed and lack of adequate cooling meant our first three nights were pretty unpleasant. I had to sleep on the settee so we could get some respite from the extremely noisy bed. The telephone system was out of order (in reality there’s no need for a system as there aren’t any services to call for). The cupboard was not designed to hang anything longer than a pair of trousers and there were not enough drawers in the room for longer stays. There was no safe. The second room we were moved to was a little sub standard to what we had already paid for but at least the air-conditioning worked and the bed didn’t keep us up at night. The terrace was not really a terrace but a couple of chairs and a small table on a path that backed onto a ‘junk yard’ with bits rotting furniture in it (ironically some old bedsteads: which got us thinking). There was no bedside table to one side of the bed and the shower room was minute. There was a single chair but no sofa in the room.Lastly, we were told that our request for a refund of some description would be forthcoming but was not quantified, put in writing or detailed in our final account on check out (in 40 years of travel all over the world a 1st). When I said that I felt very uncomfortable about paying for services without knowing what refund to expect the situation turned very tense. I said that I would settle whatever we owe once the rebate was applied to the account and if there was a balance to pay and the manager seemed to be really upset by this approach. To date I have not heard anything about the rebate. Sad but true. If you go to this property you should check out what's actually available before you book it.. We got a blank look when we asked if we could book a spa treatment like it says on one of the websites.

    A perfect stay

    rating27 Sept 2025

We had the most wonderful stay at Torri E Merli, the buildings and rooms are absolutely perfect. In a brilliant location close to Lakka, Loggos and the best beaches. All the staff were wonderful and friendly, the breakfast was perfect. Apostolia was the most amazing host booking us into the best restaurants and sorting everything for us including taxis, boat hires and an atv - she went above and beyond. A perfect holiday, we can’t wait to return. :)

    Beautiful, quiet, limited services

    rating20 Sept 2025

This is a gem of a hotel aesthetically, architecturally and historically. I must admit it felt more like a small museum than a hotel. VERY quiet if that’s what you’re looking for. I was traveling with a group of friends and we had five rooms (out of 19). The website is not clear that midday food is unavailable. We arrived hungry and there were no hotel options other than minibar nuts. Breakfasts were lovely and staffers Jannis and Anatole were great. The bar isn’t staffed and you have to call if you want a drink. However, the hotel manager’s demeanor with our group was oddly incompatible with the warm Greek hospitality we have experienced during our many trips to Greece. She was actually rude to us, to be honest. Anyway, pretty place.

A tranquil & peaceful hideaway amidst ancient olive groves on the magical island of Paxos

    rating18 Sept 2025

We so enjoyed the peaceful tranquility of the ancient rustic olive grove surroundings at the Torri E Merli hotel combining, as it truly does, the magnificent architecture of living Greek history with modern luxury and stylish comfort. Apostolia and her professional team looked after my wife and I royally during our 4 night stay, with the vibrant port of Lakka brimming with lovely restaurants & great atmosphere just a few steps down the hill. Highly recommended

    The most amazing hotel stay!

    rating02 Jul 2025

From the moment I stepped into the Torri E Merli I knew I was in for a treat, but what truly elevated my experience from great to absolutely unforgettable was the incredible service, particularly from a wonderful staff member named Pralina. The hotel itself is a gem. Every detail, from the plush towels to the thoughtful amenities, spoke volumes about the hotel's commitment to guest comfort. The breakfast buffet, pool, rooms was also just all amazing. However, it was Pralina who truly shone. She was an absolute ray of sunshine, incredibly attentive, remarkably efficient, from the moment we interacted. She went above and beyond to help me with a last-minute dinner reservation, suggesting the perfect local spot and even calling ahead to ensure a great table, she was just fantastic. It's rare to encounter someone so dedicated to ensuring a guest's comfort and happiness. Pralina is a true asset and her exceptional service is a primary reason I would not only highly recommend this hotel but also eagerly plan my return.Thank you, Pralina, for making my stay so memorable!
