Solo holiday staying at koala hotel 🐨

    rating02 Jun 2026

Amazing stay at koala hotel 18/05/26 - 25/05/26The hotel is situated a quiet area of Kos townThe hotel is self is branded 2 star but the standards and how clean and the staff themselves easily make it a 5 staršŸ˜shout out to Dimitrius the owner, Kristy, and Ioanna there all amazing and so so friendly and can’t do enough for you ā˜ŗļøthe rooms are modern and clean, the pool area is small but is ample to chill around I loved it,there’s also a roof terrace as well which is a massive sun trap, the only down side is the pool goes shaded after 4pmBreakfast Is simple but enough for what ya need, cold and hot selections and varies changes to some of the items each day which is a nice touchThe only thing of feedback I’d say is to have some more comfier sunbeds as after a while they do get uncomfortable but other than thatThis hotel is so worth itand it’s a family run hotelWhich they make you feel like family when you stayI can’t wait to be back, defo recommend this hotel for people who wanna chill and relax ā˜ŗļø

    Most friendly hotel ever?

    rating31 May 2026

As a '2 star plus' hotel it is really good value, a nice location near the marina and approx 20-30 mins walk to the centre of Kos town. If you turn right out of the hotel, past the marina you can find nice little pebble beach spots.I was out each day and so it was a great base for my stay and first time to Kos town. There's a car/bike hire place next door, mini mart/ shop opposite and supermarkets 5 min walk away. There are cycle lanes covering Kos town and it is very common and good value to rent bicycles/ebikes/scooters to get around as an option. The Land of Olive restaurant over the road is a great option if you don't want to travel too far and there's a really good gyros place called Masaboukes very close too. On the neighbouring back streets there are some lovely tavernas also.Due to time of year I stayed, the hotel and resort was quite quiet- they were able to provide me with my wish to have a room with street view on 3rd floor- same floor as the sun deck, which was handy for sunbathing or golden hour relaxing. The room was basic but adequate, the shower (with shampoo and shower gel/soap) was very good and continously had hot water. You pay extra (to be expected) for safety deposit box (in reception) and air con but it worked well to keep room cool. There's a kettle and cups/glasses in room. Ample storage space for clothes etc. Bed was very comfortable and room was cleaned several times in 5 days.I had no issues with any noise, as others may have noted.Breakfast was quite limited to be fair, but again was adequate and good value, matching its star rating. There were pastries, toast, jam etc, cereal, fruit, Greek salad items, hams and cheese, boiled eggs, hot dog sausage, fried ham/bacon, baked beans. Dilute juice, hot water for tea and filter coffee (no coffee machine). The pool area is cramped but as others have noted- the pictures are accurate. From the moment I arrived to when I left for my transfer, the staff were so friendly and helpful.Shout out to Dimitris who was always happy to give advice and offer help.If you are realistic with your expectations for a 2 star plus hotel, I really cannot fault this place and I genuinely feel the family/staff were the friendliest I have ever experienced. I would highly recommend it!

    Excellent Hoel

    rating22 May 2026

We have just returned from a fantastic 10 days at The Koala hotel. We read the reviews before booking and hoped it would really be that good being only 2 stars. Well what can I say, it exceeded all of our expectations . It’s a family run, extremely friendly, super clean and modernised hotel. The beds were very comfortable, there was always plenty of hot water in the nice modern shower room. The towels were soft and fluffy and changed regularly. Plenty of choice for breakfast. It’s a short walk to the seafront with lots of places to eat and the closest restaurant just across the road (The Land of Olives) was very good for food choices and service. There is nothing not to like about this hotel and we would definitely return. The pool area was quite small but clearly represented in the pictures but there is a sun terrace on the roof with plenty of sun beds. Also a nice bar area with friendly staff. It’s only 2 star because it’s a small family run hotel but the service and hotel quality is 5 stars. We are a well traveled couple and have stayed in some seriously posh hotels around the world so we know what’s good and what’s not. Thank you Koala for giving us a lovely stay in Kos.

    Nice Clean & Friendly Hotel

    rating22 Oct 2025

We stayed at the Koala for a fortnight on a Jet2 Holidays package and we weren't disappointed given what we paid. The hotel is located in a mainly residential area, just a short distance from the front and about a 15 minutes walk to the centre of Kos Town. There are however some nice restaurants in close proximity to the hotel if you don't want to go in to town. The hotel is well maintained and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The simply furnished refurbished rooms are quite small but more than adequate, and come with a reasonable size balcony. The only drawback for us was that we had a first floor room on the front of the hotel and traffic noise from the street could be a problem at night when we had the window open, as was the early morning call of the cockerel! The pool area was largely in the shade after midday due to the time of year but the roof terrace was great for catching the sun all day, even in October. Breakfast was quite a simple affair with a mixture of hot and cold items, not necessarily the best of quality, but more than adequate to set you up for the day, and we particularly liked being able to sit outside. The bar area is nice and live football matches are available on request. We didn't require air conditioning but this is available at an extra €6 per day. The clientele were mainly older guests and I would say that the hotel would not be suitable for those looking for lots of facilities. However, if you just want a simple friendly place to stay in Kos, at a good price, the Koala is a good choice.

    Clean, Comfortable and Close

    rating04 Oct 2025

Koala hotel is extremly clean thanks to their wonderful cleaners Ellie and Natasha. Rooms are comfortable with good on suite shower room, and a little balcony over looking the pool.Owners are nice but the night manager is less than pleasant, queit time is meant to be 11pm till 10am (as stated on their infi sheet given to you) he seemed to have forgotten that part. We totally understood that people check in at all times of the day but why inform guest on quiet periods and then totally disreguard this. We complain via Jet2 as advised and complaint dealt with by male hotel manager telling us to use earplugs and shut the doot....mmm 34 degree heat and 85 euro for aircon...eh noBreakfast was awful, powered fruit juices, poor selection of fruits, and a toaster that makes warm bread.Pool area is crampt but very clean, saw chemicals being put in but water was never tested for levels and after the guys came to spray for ants I never went back in pool.I wouldnt stay at the Koala again but wouldnt deter anyone from staying as it is pleasant, a great base and 65% of it was very good.
