Amazing location and beautiful hotel. Close the the bus and train station, right in the middle of the town. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Little issues were missed and or never addressed. No towels in the room and front desk had to be asked twice for them several hours apart. Shower drain was slow causing the bathroom floor to flood after shower. While large, the room was poorly maintained and smelled strongly of food. We discovered the odor originated from the restaurant on the lower floor of the hotel, and because the windows were left open, the smell permeated the room. Of course, we had to keep the windows open during the day to air out the room, despite the restaurant smell. The location is the best bit about this hotel as it is so central but other than that it’s very out dated. We booked 2 rooms as we have a family of 5. At time of booking 6months ago we asked for adjoining rooms. Location good to the amenities and bus station for visiting the castle. Unfortunately though our room was so close to the pedestrian crossing we could hear it bleeping all night. Hotel is very tired and definitely needs an upgrade.No aircon- when asked for a fan the receptionist laughed and said no. Good location, parking. Nice breakfast. Spacious bathroom and room. Liked having a balcony. Traditional decor. Downside no air conditioning.
