the worst apart hotel I ever saw

    rating12 Aug 2020

We booked a studio for us. The residence is run-down, with smelling moquette and spoiled equipment. It is a 5 storeys building with NO lift and we had a room at 4-th floor. Light in the kitchen (with very basic equipment) was not working and we had only one bedside table for two beds. People are going around without masks inside and COVID-19 measures seem not to be effectively applied. charlotte boulenger, Service clients/Réception at Terres de France - Appart'Hotel Brest, responded to this review Dear,Thank for taking the time to let a review about your stay.We are sorry to learn that your stay with us wasn't as good as you expected. When you'd booked, it is well mentioned that there is no lift in the building. For everything in the room, you should have come to the front desk we could have help you.Furthermore, I assure you that we are doing whatever we can to applied at its best the French's COVID-19 measures. We know some of our rooms are in bad shape, but we had begun renovation in most of them.Sincerely yours,

    Tired rooms and poor value

    rating14 Jun 2018

With blackout curtains, firm mattress and clean sheets, the sleep was comfortable. The staff were pleasant. The exterior of the building is in the process of being painted and, as a result, many car parks were fenced off for scaffolding and worker access. This meant fewer car parks in an area that is also shared with the surrounding houses - bad luck if you arrive after business hours. The rooms were tired: carpets haven't been steam cleaned in a long time (the dirty shade was obvious) the kitchen cupboard panels were moisture affected (splitting) and door hinges squealed.Considering the (poor) quality of the facilities, this hotel offers poor value compared to others in the same chain. No hand towels for both the bathroom and kitchen means having to use the bath towel to dry the dishes and mugs - Eeew! This cleaning had to be done because of the hotel notice that an additional charge will be applied for not leaving the kitchen in the same condition as at the start of the stay. Karine P, Responsable réception at Terres de France - Appart'Hotel Brest, responded to this review Hello Chai Teoh, Thank you for this experience feedback further to your stay within our establishment. We are conscious that our residence presents tracks of dilapidation and let us wait for renovations of our studios. Concerning the works we are anxious to apologize for the caused embarrassment, the problem should be solved soon. We are sincerely sorry for this inconvenience but hope to see again you at our home! See you again soon at our home with us. Charlotte. The Manager.

    Excellent base in central BREST

    rating03 Mar 2018

We were very happy with our twin room. Comfortable bed, strong Wifi, useful kitchenette, Plenty of hot water. The room was clean and warm. Optional breakfast was a little pricey - eat as much as you want but mainly cold food. We were only staying one night to avoid driving back to our own place after visiting friends in the middle of the snowy weather so it was good to have breakfast available rather than hunt round town for something. If we'd stayed longer we would have made our own. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. No complaints at all :) Karine P, Gérant at Terres de France - Appart'Hotel Brest, responded to this review Hello Carolyn, Thank you for this feedback. We are delighted that you had a good stay in our residence. It's a pleasure to see you again. Cordially. Charlotte.

update on 2 aug 16 review

    rating16 Feb 2017

My 2 Aug 16 review tells of the bad experience we had at this place. This update contains valuable information for people visiting France from overseas. In 2016 new consumer protection law was introduced in France, which provides a free english-speaking mediation service. After 6 months of trying to obtain a refund from AppartCity, including overseas phone calls via a translator, to both the hotel and their head office in Montpelier, I was getting stone-walled by them. So I emailed the mediation service CMAP ( Centre de médiation et d'arbitrage) and explained the situation. Within a few days they phoned me (in Australia), asked a few questions, made some suggestions, then contacted Appartcity head office. Within a week we had the basis for a satisfactory compromise settlement and within a month i received the settlement. The service was efficient, friendly and free, but the best part for me was that I did not have to deal direct with the hotel - every email and phone call with them was making me very angry at their insensitivity. The mediator is impartial, but they seem to have a lot of influence - every time they contacted AppartCity there was an immediate positive response.I recommend anyone having consumer problems in France to try this mediation service once they have exhausted the usual options.
