The best of the best in Arles, an iconic hotel!

    rating09 Feb 2026

Hôtel & Spa Jules César is the best of the best in Arles. It's iconic, sophisticated and very comfortable! It blends the calm of a former monastery with Christian Lacroix’s bold, colourful style, mixing history with modern comfort in a way that feels effortless. Art and design sit naturally alongside warmth and relaxation, and everywhere you go, you feel the spirit of Arles. From the historic buildings and peaceful gardens to the suites, pool, spa (it's truly fabulous), and Lou Marquès’ food, the hotel feels like a place to experience greatness!

David and Lea were very helpful and friendly during my stay, especially with my valet parking and luggages. Great location.

A nice hotel in a very central area to all sites . The decor is eclectic not everyone taste. The staff were pleasant a very special mention to Mellisa at the bar who went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. Overall I recommend this hotel in Arles and would stay here again.

Remarkable hotel staff and amenities in a delightful town (just an extra day to leave after market day).

Maybe it deserves 5 stars but we were annoyed when we realised the hotel was part of the Accor group and we were not allowed to use my spouse’s membership to accrue points. That said, we enjoyed the hotel very much and felt the service was remarkable. Saturday is market day in Arles, just out side the hotel. Vehicular traffic is not possible so the staff escorted us around the back and checked on us while we were waiting. Remarkable. The restaurant food and service, room, wifi and bed were excellent and the hotel position next door to the tourist office was handy. The town itself is delightful.

    Disappointing Experience – Not Recommended

    rating23 May 2025

The "Julius Caesar" hotel may look impressive from the outside, and the lobby and bar are indeed stylishly designed, offering a unique and artistic atmosphere. However, there is absolutely no connection between these public spaces and the disappointing condition of the rooms. The room décor ranges from something resembling a bordello to a stark, cold hospital-like feel. The overall atmosphere is gloomy, the minimalist design is uncomfortable, and no sense of luxury or indulgenceHot water was limited, the bathrooms were extremely basic, and the furnishings were outdated and sparse. The service was equally disappointing – the front desk staff, particularly David, showed no willingness to assist or make our stay pleasant. We received no information about the area, and not even a welcoming smile. The hotel is not located in the city center out of the old town, but rather in a less attractive area. There are far better and more pleasant hotels in the vicinity. We wanted to leave, but found out that the booking policy is very strict – no cancellations or refunds allowed. Only upon checkout did we learn that breakfast is not included and costs an additional €25 per person. There was also an extra charge for having our luggage brought to and from the room.In summary – a very disappointing experience. Not recommended and definitely not worth the price. Jérémy Lyonnet, Directeur général at Jules Cesar Arles Hotel & Spa-MGallery, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we deeply regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, we appreciate the opportunity to respond and clarify a few points. You rightly note the uniqueness of our lobby and bar — spaces that reflect the artistic vision of Christian Lacroix, who reimagined this former 17th-century convent with bold and theatrical flair. That spirit continues throughout the hotel, including the rooms, which embrace contrasting moods and styles — sometimes surprising, often unconventional, but always intentional. We understand that such a strong design identity may not appeal to all tastes, especially for guests seeking more traditional luxury aesthetics. As for the room and bathroom amenities, please rest assured that we meet the requirements of a 5-star classification, with regular quality checks. That said, your remarks regarding the hot water and furnishing will be reviewed with our technical and housekeeping teams for follow-up.We are genuinely sorry to read that your interaction with our front desk team was not warm or helpful. This is far from our usual standards of service, and we will speak directly with the team member you mentioned to ensure such impressions are not repeated. Our staff is typically praised for their attentiveness and care, so this feedback will be taken seriously.Regarding location: the hotel is, in fact, located at the entrance of Arles’ old town — a peaceful position just a few steps from the Roman arena and other UNESCO World Heritage sites. We apologize if this was not clear prior to your arrival.Concerning the pricing and cancellation policy, these conditions are always communicated at the time of booking, especially when a non-refundable rate is selected. Similarly, services like breakfast or porterage are optional and clearly detailed on our website and partner platforms. Still, we understand that unexpected charges can feel frustrating at the end of a disappointing stay. While we regret that your experience did not reflect the indulgence you were hoping for, we hope you’ll allow that many of our guests do find charm, authenticity, and comfort in our singular style and service. With our sincere regards,The ManagementHôtel & Spa Jules César – MGallery Collection – Arles
