Long review. Norovirus is there. Older guests.

    rating30 Mar 2026

Unfortunately I will never return. It's a beautiful resort. Very well maintained. This is a long review.Bungalow: I got a plunge pool bungalow that is isolated away from the rest of the resort. So it's very quiet. Online says the plunge pool is heated. It is not. It is freezing cold and there is so many palms that the sun can not heat it up. Of course that is the look of the resort but it is so overgrown that it has blocked the sun. I recommend that some of the branches are trimmed so the sun can come through and heat up the pool. The room is nice with a mini fridge. Nothing to write home about. There is a coffee maker that only takes pods. The coffee isn't that great and you have to go to the bar to get a carton of milk for your coffee. The buffet around makes coffee using "santo domingo" coffee which is so much better. I wish the room had a microwave to reheat the food. There is a "hut/bar" in the middle of all the bungalows. It is rarely open which is a sad waste of space. I did recommend before I left that the bar should be open from like 12/1 to 7/9 so that those who are in the bungalows don't have to walk out and across to the bars in the main part of the resort.Clientele: This place is not for people in there 40s or younger. The people there were 55+ and they enjoyed themselves, which is good for them but just so people know. There was entertainment nightly but it was not representative of Dominican culture. They played YMCA and songs for the 80s, 70s, etc. I was told by an employee that this is the clientele when it is winter for them in other countries. But in the summer it becomes a younger crowd. Of course I don't know if that's true. I wasn't looking for a party resort but a resort with a fair share of entertainment.Food: They have 3 restaurants and a buffet. Now I can't blame the resort but I don't know. There were guests who had no manners and were grabbing food with their bare hands. I only ate hot food that was steaming which wasn't a lot. I brought my own bottled water at the local supermarket. The resort does not give out bottled water. They have filtered water stations but I still did not drink that water or use ice. I cleaned my room with bleach wipes since I heard last minute that the norovirus aka gastroenteritis was getting lots of guests sick. The person at the entrance gives out hand sanitizer but alcohol based products does not kill a virus only handwashing. I wish a sink was at the entrance and people were told they had to wash but is it really or guests or the employees. I've heard from employees that they have seen sick patients and they themselves have gotten ill. The resort looks very clean but a virus is very had to kill unless one day they close everything and clean everything down to the last spoon with bleach. My boyfriend got sick two days before leaving. Stomach pains, vomiting, chills. I was extremely sick the next day. Vomiting, diarrhea, chills, horrible stomach cramps. I went to the clinic on site during ER hours. The doctor was great. I got IV medications and blood work done. It was confirmed that I had norovirus. Lucky I felt well enough the next day to fly home.Staff: Everyone was very nice with smiles. The nightly entertainment team was very enthusiastic. Now I do have to say that yes we were in D.R. and yes everyone speaks spanish but if you are working in a tourist business there should be people that can speak to the guests in other languages. There were people who spoke French and a rare few who spoke English. My boyfriend does not speak spanish and could not speak to anyone. He asked someone for sugar and she had no idea what it was saying. I speak spanish and had to do all the talking. I'm an introvert and hated every minute of it. I'm not saying they have to speak another language but he should of been about to communicate with some people. He could barely order drinks. Yes maybe he could've said beer in spanish but they could also learn the word beer. It can go either way. But anyway everyone was helpful and they stayed on top of keeping the resort clean. Just remember cash is king and tipping goes far. Quaint, but lovely resort.

    rating29 Mar 2026

The beginning of our trip was a little chaotic as we arrived later than we were supposed to. So there wasn’t as much staff to help find our rooms which can be a little bit confusing in a new environment! Our room was clean and that cleanliness was maintained throughout the trip. Lots of animals (cats/dogs) roaming around, but they’re all very friendly. The location of the room was nice and close to the beach and pool. For entertainment they held performances every night at the centre part and then moved to the theatre later in the night. The music was always fantastic and lively. The variety of food and drinks was pretty good. The servers, bartenders, and staff in general were mostly friendly and tried their best to be accommodating. Special thanks to Joandra Santos and Ariel from the animation team for a great, but sad, check out<3 Viva V Samana By Wyndham , Propietario at Viva V Samana By Wyndham A Trademark Adults All Inclusive, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your experience after your stay at our hotel. Most Relaxing Vacation Ever

    rating29 Mar 2026

I needed an escape from winter and life stresses and found the perfect place. The resort is smaller in size and doesn't take long to get anywhere which is great for those with mobility issues. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Special shout out to all of the bar and wait staff. The resort was well kept and liked having our personal wade pool on our patio. It was great to have on the one rainy day. We enjoyed the various food options from the buffet to the ala cart restaurants. There were always chairs available at the pool and the beach. The beach was clean with great coverage from various size palm trees. The nightly live entertainment was great and the entertainment staff did a good job at their shows and interacting with staff throughout the day. Karaoke Sunday night was my favorite! The only negative was that the Viva staff was a little pushy in trying to get people to sign up for their vacation club but since I know how to say 'no' it did not spoil our vacation.I rarely return to the same resort twice but may have to make an exception here.
