  We had such a wonderful time! The resort staff went out of their way to ensure our trip was enjoyable. Blacky Boy, Danersa, and Juan Pablo were wonderful ambassadors for both the resort and their beautiful country!

  Well regarding the property I would say that it was pleasant, the food was good. But my problem is how dishonest management can be. When I made my reservation for 2 rooms ocean view instead of the no extra charge rooms. When I got there the rooms were not available so we were placed on junior suit all the way on the back of the of the resort. One of the rooms smells so muggy that I requested to be taken care but all was done was some spray and open doors, that all they did. Multiple trips to the front desk till I gave up! But that is not all!! Because not ocean view rooms were available and I paid for the manager Kevin told me that I was to get a refund to my credit card was going to be applied for the 5 nights, guess what? Till this day no credit has been issued!! And JetBlue contacted them and they denied the credit!! This resort is dishonest so if you have any issues make sure to get written confirmation, because as of now all I can do is open a dispute for over $500 with my credit card and hope that they can get to th bottom of it.   Here is my honest review after 7 nights: Check-in: Simple, no issues, friendly employeesRoom: Extremely musty and smelly upon arrival. TIP: bring damp traps from the dollar store with you - they seemed to help alleviate some of the smell. Also, make sure that your balcony and windows are closed to ensure the AC turns on. The worst part by far was the bathroom. Rusty & slow draining bathtub, very little hot water (we literally got like 30 mins of luke warm water a day after running the shower for 5-10 minutes to get that going) - I really struggled with this. Power outages happened several times a day which likely was cause of lack of hot water (as the water runs off the power there - found that out when the water stopped when the power went out). No facecloths in the room (but we brought our own after reading previous reviews). We asked the cleaner for a few extra towels and she promptly brought them. Bar fridge is stocked daily with water and pop - no alcohol. Room was always cleaned very well daily. Grounds: This was by far the best part. Beautiful and clean!Pool/beach: Getting a lounger was difficult if you didn't reserve one in the morning. On several days there were sections that were reserved with towels for large groups of 10 people who were no where to be found. It became quite frustrating for those who were there and could have made use of them. Beach was rough - but we enjoyed lounging on the beaches by Amber Cove and Playabachata.Food: Larimar Buffet - I am somewhat conflicted on the food... The first 4 days were great. Buffet was always well stocked, food was flavorful, and there always seemed to be variety. The last 3 days were terrible - little variety, poor quality, and nothing left within an hour of the buffet opening. Breakfast at Larimar was the best meal of the day, with the omelet station being a guest favorite! Tao Japanese (a la carte): We did not enjoy this at all. 5/8 of us felt sick after eating there, the food was overly salty and the hibachi chef burned my husband when he threw oil on the grill and lit it on fire (the hot oil splattered all over my husbands arm). Embers Steakhouse was excellent. Steaks were cooked to our liking, and food was fresh and flavorful! We were unable to try the Beach Club as we waited for over 20 minutes for someone to bring us menus and were ignored entirely. Legends Sports Bar - I know most guests rave about legends, however I did not enjoy it tbh. The food was overly greasy, and it was long waits for drinks. Service: For the most part, the service was great. I would say most employees were friendly, helpful and courteous. At times, the service felt lacking, but no more than any other experience I've had.Entertainment: This is lacking. We found the entertainment to be really quite boring. I really wish there were more options in the evening.Other: The final thing to add is that seating in the evening is minimal. We struggled to find somewhere to sit down, have a drink and relax - especially when it rained every night. It would be great to have more available outdoor seating for guests. On our last night we headed over to Playbachata that had lots of outdoor tables/seating, and I wish we would have realized that earlier, as we likely would have spent more time there.Overall, our experience was OK but unfortunately I don't think I would return. I feel there is huge opportunity to make this resort great, but it could take some time and money to do so. There were just too many little things that would stop me from coming back. That said, we still had a great time with great friends!
