  This place was horrible rats ate a hole in my luggage. I worked at a prison the inmates had it better than this rat hole. Prison food was better than this place.   A Disappointing Amazon Stay — Trapped, Upsold & Underserviced

  The Colombian Amazon is a fascinating destination, full of natural and cultural richness. I completely recommend visiting it; however, my experience at the Amazon On Vacation hotel was very negative, and I believe it is important to warn future travelers.Infrastructure and maintenance: The hotel is in very poor condition. The facilities are deteriorated, with air conditioners that do not work in several rooms (including ours), lack of basic furniture—not even a chair—and serious hygiene problems. This is not just a matter of being in the jungle: there are cockroaches, mice, and other insects inside the rooms. In our case, mice tore open garbage bags; other guests reported rats in the beds and damaged luggage. In addition, garbage accumulates under the buildings, causing bad odors.Wi-Fi and connectivity: In a hotel with hundreds of guests, they only offer 30 connection codes in 6-hour shifts. Even with access, the signal barely allows sending text messages. In practice, it is better to assume that there is no internet.Food: The food is very poor in quality, repetitive, and tasteless. Hard rice, dry meats, and practically the same menu every day. It is not valid to use the jungle conditions as an excuse: in other places in the region, even more remote, we tried fresh, varied, and excellent quality dishes. Here the lack of care from management is evident.Logistics and safety (SelvaTours): The hotel works with SelvaTours, whose handling is poor and unsafe. On one excursion, we were forced to cross a wooden plank 5 meters high without any safety measures, even though the group included elderly people and a young man with a disability. Only thanks to the intervention of the Tourism Police was an accident avoided. Furthermore, on the return to the airport, poor planning caused delays when transporting more than 150 people in a boat and then transferring them to a 24-passenger speedboat. No one took responsibility or apologized, and if it had not been for the flight’s delay, several tourists would have been stranded in Leticia.Conclusion: The Colombian Amazon is wonderful and worth visiting, but I definitely do not recommend staying at the Amazon On Vacation hotel. The infrastructure is deplorable, the food is inadequate, the logistics are dangerous, and the management is indifferent. There are better options in the region to enjoy this destination without going through such inconveniences and risks.   Beware before Booking! The hotel is certainly overrated!!!

  I am not one to leave reviews unless the service is outstanding or just straight up horrible. Although I had seen a few bad reviews, didnt think it would be that bad given the 3.8 rating. Oh boy was I wrong. Unfortunately, what would've been a magical place was ruined by the bad service at the hotel and its personnel. From the rudeness and lack of care by the front desk to the tasteless and repurposed foods and lame/ basic tours.Here's a bit of the things to highlight:1. Our agent had us booked a 4 person room for just the 2 of us indicating there were no other rooms available. Meaning we paid a higher price; however, when we went, you could tell the hotel was at about 50% capacity or so and there were indeed rooms available. Thus, we paid extra beds just for the fun of It I guess.2. Ask for the price breakdown before making the payment. They charged us 200k pesos for some random fee in case of cancelation - makes so sense. Anyways, I was never reimbursed the money and it was a fight.3. We asked for a change of room given the sheets smelled like sweat and there were clear signs the room has not been properly cleaned prior to our arrival.4. We asked to be changed of room and what was a simple and understandable request became an ordeal. Front desk was rude and clearly did not want to attend to our request.5. For the first time in my life, in a HOTEL, it was a fight to get towels. The cleaning lady simply forgot and the front desk did not believe that was the case. They sent me beck and forth. It was not until three hours later I was able to get towels.6. Food was tasteless and basic - Buffet style. On the second day, I noticed the leftover food from the day before was reheated, chopped or mixed with others and served for lunch. I am sure when it comes to meat and fish, that could not be safe.7. The tours were unorganized. Departure time waiting for other that were very late (+20 mins) and the activities were pretty basic. Not much to see... all they cared about was selling and selling and putting together what was at hand. During our trip to Tres Fronteras, the store they took us was certainly overpriced (+60% mark up when we compared the same items from a store a block away).I personally would not do this trip with them again and rather seek other alternatives. Talked to a few other people who found better options, from traveling on their own and staying in Puerto Nariño to others staying in Leticia and booking their tours from their hotels at very similar rates.   all inclusive , was horrible, they only put out so much food or sodas, If you didn't get it fast enough there wasn't any more so it's too bad. I'f you wanted a beer it's extra. Don't go it's a tourist trap.
