The restaurant was the worst part of the hotel. Plus one elevator only
The room was comfortable. We were in the hotel for 5 nights. Had very little interaction with the hotel staff. Nice view from upper floor room. The main problems were that there is just one elevator for a large hotel. There were long wait times for it. And being on an upper floor made using the stairs not possible. Except for the taxidermied polar bear in the lobby, it seemed like a standard mid-range hotel -- comfortable room, but nothing special. Minuses: the hotel shuttle does not meet arrival flights, contrary to what's stated on th… Pluses: the hotel is in a convenient location, a short walk to an excellent supermarket (Independent Grocer), and to interesting sites such as the Legislative Assembly and Northwest Cultural Center. Best Place to Stay in Yellowknife
While I haven't stayed elsewhere, it would be difficult to top the Explorer for its amenities, quality and location -- an easy 2-minute walk to downtown Yellowknife. Also close to museums and other sites. They do tend to send a LOT of emails ahead of time, which I just got used to. Very kind staff, and the hotel shuttle is especially welcome. They meet every arriving flight (not that there are too… While I haven't stayed elsewhere, it would be difficult to top the Explorer for its amenities, quality and location -- an easy 2-minute walk to downtown Yellowknife.
