Poor ventilation and no air conditioning!

My room backed onto the swimming pool so there was no opportunity to open a window to get fresh air and the air conditioning system did not work, despite following the instructions and trying multiple times to lower the temperature. Because of the proximity to the pool, the room smelled like a change room and was dank and warm. Beautiful hotel within a two- minute walk of the walled Old-Quebec. Has on-site parking which is a premium in Quebec. On-site restaurant (steak-house) and bar. The building is striking indoors and out. There are rooms with balconies that face the atrium. Buffet breakfast as good. The pool was clean and warm. Pool opening was unusually late at 09:00 and so we could not swim first thing in the am before getting on with our day. There was a live band in the atrium on the Friday and Saturday evenings. We stayed here one night as part of a guided tour. This place was a real disappointment. The room wasn't bad but checking in and out was very bad. You had to take an elevator from the entry area or walk up the steps to get to the check-in area. The tub shower was difficult to step into because it was high and had a middle strip on the edge which I cut my leg on. the coffee pot in our room did not… We stayed here one night as part of a guided tour. The room was in good shape. Balcony overlooking the interior pool. good location next to Saint Jean Gate. Easy walking distance to all of Port Royal. Food in dining room was okay but not great.
