Botafogo is really a cool district in Rio de Janeiro. Full of live and activity. In the evening the streets around the bars were crowded with happy cariocas. The location is excellent and you can Uber easily (and not expensive) to many popular sites. It is located near many restaurants that are within walking distance and the area around this hotel felt generally more safe than walking around other areas of Rio. The Botafogo mall is very close.
