Very enjoyable hotel in a great location

    rating23 Apr 2026

I enjoyed my two-night stay here. My room was spacious and comfortable, the staff was pleasant, and the hotel has a nice location across from a park. There are many restaurants nearby. Salta is a lovely vibrant city, and the hotel is a convenient walk to the city center. Noelia Ramirez, Propietario at Hotel Alejandro I, responded to this review Thank you very much for choosing us! We hope to welcome you again at another time.

Awful smell in the rooms and hallway

    rating08 Apr 2026

We stayed at Alejandro I Hotel and the experience was disappointing. At first glance, the lobby is actually quite nice—polished, spacious, and far more upscale than you’d expect at the price point. It immediately made me wonder why the rooms were so inexpensive.Once we got upstairs, it became very clear why.The hallways were the first red flag—the carpets outside the rooms had a strong, unpleasant odor that made it genuinely uncomfortable just walking to the room. Unfortunately, it didn’t improve from there. The rooms themselves are very dated, and everything feels old and not particularly clean. We had a connecting set of rooms, and both had issues. One room smelled strongly of sweat and general staleness, while the other had an overpowering cleaning chemical smell—we had to keep the window open all night just to tolerate it. That came with another downside: it gets quite noisy at night. The bathrooms were especially disappointing—very outdated, basic, and frankly not clean to an acceptable standard.Service throughout the stay was minimal. Breakfast was okay, but there was no guidance or help—you’re left to figure everything out yourself. We had a similar experience at dinner the night before, where only half of our meals were brought out. No real follow-up or ownership.Valet parking is convenient in theory, but in practice it takes a long time and adds another layer of friction.Overall, the property looks good at first glance, but the reality doesn’t match. The low price reflects the experience.

Best in town, but could be better

    rating06 Nov 2025

We liked this hotel, probably the best in Salta. Big rooms, comfy beds. Shower could be better. Breakfast was small, and not in proportion to a 5 stars hotel. They charged extra for a capuchino, which was weird to say the least. Weird and somehow disappointing experience

    rating21 Apr 2025

Nice hotel but it has more of a 3 star feel when you walk in the room.It feels like it all started out as a premium five star property but was somehow later om downgraded to a hotel that caters more to tour groups. The prices that were negotiated clearly had a seriois impact on services and amenities provided. No free water in the room. Reception told us we could easily by some in the drugstore down the road. Minimal breakfast servive which charges extra for decent coffee (!). Overrun by tour busses emptying their loads which makes for 50 people waiting for elevators and pilfering of the breakfast buffet. If this were a 3 star it would be outstanding but in no way 5 star levels.

    Luxury in Salta

    rating12 Nov 2024

We had a lovely time staying in Salta and exploring the city and going on the day trip to the Salta Grande. The hotel felt luxurious in a very close walk to the main square and was a great price! The gym was FABULOUS and had lots of equipment for cardio and weight. We saw locals who had gym memberships there as well. The breakfast buffet was also nice and we also had dinner at the restaurant and it was quite tasty. Some people on our tour came back to eat there a second time! Overall 10/10 experience. Saludos cordiales.
